    Tax-free weekends are here, and it’s time for back-to-school season! Everyone is excited about Sales Tax Holidays because during this time, you can save money by shopping tax-free on select items like school supplies, computers, clothing, and more. Many online retailers, such as Amazon, Walmart, andĀ Target, participate as well. Please note that each state may have specific items that are not eligible, so make sure to check out their lists.

    Which States are Doing Back-to-School Tax-Free Shopping?

    • Tennessee July 31st – August 2nd – clothing up to $100/item, school supplies up to $100/item, computers up to $1,500/item
      • New Mexico July 31st – August 2nd – clothing and shoes for under $100/item, computers for under $1000/item, computer peripheral items for under $500/item, school supplies for under $30/item
      • West VirginiaĀ July 31st – August 3rd – clothing up to $125/item, school supplies up to $50/item, sports equipment up to $150/item, laptop and tablet computers up to $500/item, instructional materials up to $20/item
      • Arkansas August 1st – 2nd – certain Electronic Devices, School Supplies, School Art Supplies, School Instructional Materials, and Clothing
      • IowaĀ August 7th – 8th – clothing & footwear for $100/item
      • Mississippi July 10th – 12th – clothing, footwear, or school supplies if the sales price of a single item is less than $100
      • Alabama July 17th – 19th – certain clothing up to $156/item, computers, computer software, and school computer suppliesĀ  up to $1,173, textbooks up to $47/item, and school supplies, school art supplies, and school instructional materialĀ  up to $78/item
      • MissouriĀ August 7th – 9th – clothing & shoes up to $100/item, computers up to $1,500, computer software up to $350, school supplies up to $50/item, graphing calculators up to $150
      • OhioĀ August 7th – 9th – clothing & shoes up to $75/item, school supplies up to $20/item, school instructional materials up to $20/item
      • OklahomaĀ August 7th – 9th – clothing & shoes up to $100/item
      • South Carolina August 7th – 9th – clothing & accessories, diapers, footwear, school supplies, computers, software, printers, and certain bed and bath supplies
      • Texas August 7th – 9th – clothing and shoes up to $100/item, school supplies & backpacks up to $100/item
      • Virginia August 7th – 9th – clothing & footwear up to $100/item, school supplies up to $20/item, hurricane and emergency preparedness products up to $1000/item, Energy Star and WaterSense products up to $2500/item
      • Massachusetts August 8th – 9th – retail items of up to $2,500, purchased in Massachusetts for personal use
      • MarylandĀ August 9th – 15th – clothing & shoes up to $100/item, the first $40 of a backpack or bookbag purchase
      • FloridaĀ July 20th – August 20th – clothing and footwear up to $100/item, school supplies up to $50, wallets and bags up to $100/item, learning aids and jigsaw puzzles up to $30, computers and computer-related accessories up to $1,500
      • Connecticut August 16th – 22ndĀ – clothing, backpacks, and footwear up to $300

        Georgia has had massive tax revenue surpluses the last several years so there’s no excuse for the State to not have tax-free shopping
