Amazon just announced price increases for their Prime membership plans. The updated pricing will apply to Prime sign-ups starting on February 18, 2022. This means that the yearly membership will increase from $119 to $139/year, and the monthly membership from $12.99 to $14.99/month.
For Prime Student members, the price of the monthly membership will increase from $6.49 to $7.49/month, and the price of the annual membership will increase from $59 to $69/year while qualifying EBT and government assistance recipients membership price will increase from $5.99 to $6.99/month.

Note that for current Prime members, the new prices will apply after March 25, 2022, on the date of their next renewal.
How To Skip The Price Increase?
Fortunately, we found an awesome way to keep the same price for at least another year even after the increase! You need to be quick since you can only do it before February 18th. See steps below:
- Buy yourself an annual Prime Gift Membership
- Go to the Prime membership plans to disable auto-renew
- Click ‘Manage Membership’
- Click ‘End Membership’
(Opt to click on ‘Keep My Benefits’ to keep your Prime membership in effect until it expires) - Once your membership expires, just apply the Gift Membership to your account and get another full year of Prime for just $119!
Iâm going to be honest, as a government assistance yes I would renew. . Even $15 a month I donât mind paying .

I still think that you save money with the prime. Because imagine having to spend $25 every time you need something. There’s a lot of times I don’t spend $25. I guess it’s good if you don’t shop amazon too often. Then you can spend more to get the free shipping.

Ugh my renewal date is 2/22/22
Itâs a shame prices for the membership is going up but the quality of the membership is going down⌠I have had my membership for a few years now and have watched my 2 day delivery turn into when the item is available and having my packages not delivered properly⌠thinking about the Walmart plus membership but not sure it compares with the Amazon prime membership just yet. So for now Iâm staying
I feel the same way as you do. My delivery never gets here in 2 days and I purchase supplements my husband needs due to a very fragile immune system. I have several on autoship and I am still waiting on a package shipped the 1st of January. They have said that it must of gotten lost. So I am going to get a refund. I have the Walmart+ membership. At 1st it was great but now some of the items are will give you the option of being shipped or picked up at your local store. Even if I choose for the items to be shipped they automatically change it to be picked up at my store which is just a regular Walmart, very small and NEVER has what I am ordering. They’re so small they don’t carry these items yet they won’t ship them to me. It’s gotten so bad that they will send me a message saying my order is ready yet when I drive 20 miles one way to pick it up most of the items aren’t in the order because that store doesn’t carry them and they don’t let you know that ahead of time. Even if the store carries a missing item, they cancel that item instead of reordering it for you or have it shipped to your house if they’re out of stock at the store. Just something to think about. I joined because of distance and not being able to leave home and go into town but once every 2 – 3 weeks. Since they started doing this, it defeats the purpose.
Of course The amount of savings through prime is well worth it to me đđđť
