• Amazon Prime Prices are Going Up 😱 (Lock in Current Price!)

Amazon just announced price increases for their Prime membership plans. The updated pricing will apply to Prime sign-ups starting on February 18, 2022. This means that the yearly membership will increase from $119 to $139/year, and the monthly membership from $12.99 to $14.99/month.

For Prime Student members, the price of the monthly membership will increase from $6.49 to $7.49/month, and the price of the annual membership will increase from $59 to $69/year while qualifying EBT and government assistance recipients membership price will increase from $5.99 to $6.99/month.

Would you renew at this rate?

Note that for current Prime members, the new prices will apply after March 25, 2022, on the date of their next renewal.

How To Skip The Price Increase?

Fortunately, we found an awesome way to keep the same price for at least another year even after the increase! You need to be quick since you can only do it before February 18th. See steps below:

    • Buy yourself an annual Prime Gift Membership
    • Go to the Prime membership plans to disable auto-renew
    • Click ‘Manage Membership’
    • Click ‘End Membership’
(Opt to click on ‘Keep My Benefits’ to keep your Prime membership in effect until it expires)
    • Once your membership expires, just apply the Gift Membership to your account and get another full year of Prime for just $119!

it might be me but the renew to keep the same price seems complicated. I’ll go drink some coffie and re read it. 😆

We get it for our entire family, so it looks like we need to decide who wants to do what 😁 I do love the many benefits of Prime though. Thank you so much for the heads up and the dates are uber helpful! Happy Friday everyone!

        You’re so welcome Carissa!

I just saw the mention of The monthly price going up to $6.99 got ebt and govt qualifying recipients…. I get food stamps and am on disability (SSI and sed) does that mean I should be getting prime fow price of just $5.99/month??? I ne et heard of that!

        • you can go to your prime account for qualifying details or search Amazon prime ebt

        • I’ve had my Amazon account since before they started giving that deal to EBT recipients, and I asked them if I could get that deal since I get EBT, and they said no because I already had my account :/ I was like, well duh! that’s cuz y’all haven’t always had this deal! The nerve. So I’m going to just start a new account, but I’m going to ask them again if that’s still how it is, cuz it was a good while back when I first asked. Maybe they’ve changed 🤷🏼‍♀️

why buy the gift membership, can’t you just process the renewal on Feb 18 before the increase…just thinking that maybe easier… 😃 thanks for the info!!

Do you mean cancel and just get a new membership at the lower price? In that case, you don’t get a pro-rated refund on the unused portion of your membership if you’ve used prime shipping more than four times. Hope that explains it.

Hello this sounds like a fun group

Although I am thinking about the increase, I will probably still renew when that comes around next year. Our household uses Amazon a lot. so if I drop it, I would have to make sooo many changes to my buying habits.

I love Amazon. It’s bad enough that the cost of living, necessities are going up. I could see if it were just thing we want and not need to live. But now you have to purchase memberships for deals, or be a their credit card, not to mention paying for express shipping due to delay and still take 7-10 to receive your order! I’m a single mom with 2 boys. A yrs ago my brothers wife passed away unexpectedly doe too a recent diagnosis of epilepsy. Leaving behind my brother and their 4 children. My brother and 3 of 4 are living with. Him and his oldest have completely shut down. Due to her death! Leaving me with responsibility of providing and supporting them in all aspects!

Wow, that is quite a cross to bear and I’m sorry for that. You sound like you’re a WONderful sister and aunt! And I would know, cuz I have my own wonderful sister and aunts 😉 If no one has told you today, allow me to say THANK YOU, and you are doing an amazing job! xo
