Recalls of Products and Food for 2024

Manufacturers can occasionally recall products from store shelves because of problems. It can be difficult to keep up with all the product and food recalls that take place, which is why I’ve put together this list to help you stay informed on the most recent recalls of consumer packaged goods, household goods, and food items. See the list below:

Product Recalls 2024

Perdue Foods Frozen Chicken Recall

Perdue Foods is recalling approximately 167,171 pounds of frozen, ready-to-eat chicken breast nugget and tender products that may be contaminated with foreign material, specifically metal. There have been no confirmed reports of adverse reactions due to consumption of these products. Anyone concerned about an injury or illness should contact a healthcare provider.

FSIS is concerned that some product may be in consumers’ freezers. Consumers who have purchased these products are urged not to consume them. These products should be thrown away or returned to the place of purchase. The affected products, produced on March 23, 2024, include:

• 22-oz. (1.38-lbs.) vacuum-sealed plastic packages containing “PERDUE Simply Smart ORGANICS Breaded CHICKEN BREAST NUGGETS” with Best If Used By date of “03 23 25” represented on the back of the package.
• 29-oz. (1.81-lbs.) vacuum-sealed plastic packages containing “PERDUE CHICKEN BREAST TENDERS with Best If Used By date of “03 23 25” represented on the back of the package.
• 22-oz. (1.38-lbs.) vacuum-sealed packages containing “BUTCHERBOX Organic Chicken Breast Nuggets” with Best If Used By date of “03 23 25” represented on the back of the package.

P&G Detergent Packets Recall

The giant manufacturer Procter & Gamble announced a recall of Tide Pods, Gain Flings, Ace Pods and Ariel Pods liquid laundry detergent packets that were made of flexible film. The packets are allegedly prone to split-open at the upper part below the zipper, which poses a direct potential risk of injuries to eyes or skin by touch or even more serious threat by digesting.

The aforementioned recalled products were sold at major retailers such as Amazon, Target, Walmart, CVS, Family Dollar and more in the period between September 2023 and February 2024. These lot numbers are subject to recall marking the following products:

Fisher-Price Disney Little People Recall

Attention to all Disney fans, especially Disney parents! On March 21th Fisher-Price announced a recall of Little People Mickey and Friends figure sets, according to the Consumer Products Safety Commission! These sets included six figures such as Mickey, Minnie, Goofy, Pluto, Donald and Daisy. According to the CSPC the biggest problem were Donald and Daisy figures. The heads of these two figures can be separated, which poses a danger to children but thankfully, no injuries have been reported. If you own these toys, the advice is to put them away immediately, so that they are out of your children’s reach!

How to Tell If Your Products Were Affected

Approximately 204,000 recalled sets have been sold in the United States and Canada. They were sold at Walmart, Kohls, Meijer, HEB and Kroger stores, in addition to online retailers like Amazon and Walmart and many others online retailers between May 2023 and February 2024. If you purchased one, check the model number to see if it’s part of the affected set. The recalled sets have model numbers PJ88 and HTW75. In case, you’ve already thrown away the packaging, don’t worry the model numbers should be on the bottom of the Goofy figure.

What to do if you bought the recalled products:

Fisher-Price is offering a cash refund to any buyer of these figures! They will send you a pre-paid mailing label and issue a refund of $10. You can only return the two toys that are the problem (Donald and Daisy). If there is some problem, you can always call Fisher-Price toll-free at 855-853-6224 between 9 a.m. and 6 p.m. ET Monday through Friday.

Robitussin Honey Cough Syrup

On January 24th, the company announced a recall of specific batches of Robitussin Honey CF Max Day Adult and Robitussin Honey CF Max Nighttime Adult cough syrups due to potential microbial contamination. This contamination poses a significant risk to individuals with compromised immune systems, potentially leading to serious infections. It is important to note that this situation is concerning for anyone who has used these products.

Homedics Percussion Personal Massager Recall

Homedics is recalling more than 80,000 massage guns due to potential overheating issues during charging, which could pose burn and fire risks. The affected massagers, identified by the model number HHP-715, were manufactured before 2023. To check the manufacturing date, examine the underside of the barrel for a sticker with a four-digit code, where the last two digits indicate the production year.

Consumers have been advised to stop using or charging the recalled massagers and to contact Homedics to receive a full refund or a refund in the form of a credit toward any Homedics product, including a 20% bonus.

TGI Fridays Boneless Chicken Bites

The company is issuing a recall for approximately 26,550 pounds of TGI Fridays boneless chicken bites due to the potential presence of clear, hard plastic pieces in the product. If you have purchased this item, it is important not to consume them – you can safely dispose of them or return them to the place of purchase. The affected items are:

Quaker Oats Chewy Bars Recall

The Quaker Oats Company is issuing a recall for over 40 granola bar items and cereals due to a possible Salmonella contamination. The entire list can be accessed through the official FDA announcement.

Affected products: The recall encompasses various Quaker granola bars and cereals marked with “Best Before” dates spanning from January 9, 2024, to August 2, 2024, along with specific UPC codes and “Best Before” dates unique to each product.

Tyson Fully Cooked Fun Nuggets Recall

Tyson Foods is recalling approximately 30,000 pounds of their Tyson Fully Dinosaur Shaped Cooked Fun Nuggets sold to retailers in 29-ounce packages. A number of consumers have reported they found small metal pieces in the product.

The product was produced at one location on September 5, 2023. Impacted products bear the product codes 2483BRV02 07, 2483BRV02 08, 2483BRV02 09, or 2483BRV02 10, establishment code P7211, with a best if used by date of September 4, 2024. Product cases may be identified by code 048153-6910, 10000048153. 

Consumers who have purchased the affected item should cut the UPC and date code from the packaging, discard the product and call or text 1-855-382-3101.

Insignia Air Fryer Recall

Best Buy together with the US Consumer Product Safety Commission voluntarily recalls certain models of Insignia air fryers and air fryer ovens due to fire, burn, and laceration hazards. You can be eligible for the recall if you purchased an Insignia air fryer and air fryer oven at Best Buy, eBay, or other third-party sellers between November 2021 and November 2023. The affected units can overheat which can cause the handles to melt or break and the glass door to shatter.

The Insignia air fryer or air fryer oven models included in the recall are:

For registration of your claim and instructions on the requirements for the destruction of the units, go here. Other requirements needed for submitting a claim are photo of your unit, the model number, and the purchase receipt if you still have it. Eligible claimants may receive a refund or Best Buy store credit equivalent to the purchase amount indicated on your receipt.

Walmart Raw Ground Beef Recall

Cargill Meat Solutions is recalling over 16,000 pounds of raw ground beef shipped to Walmart stores nationwide due to possible contamination with E.Coli. The affected ground beef packages have an establishment ID of “EST. 86P” and were produced between April 26 and 27. USDA have no reports yet on people falling ill but consumers who have bought these packages are advised to throw them away or return them to the point of purchase for a refund.

The raw ground beef packages included in the recall are:

• 2.25-lbs. of plastic-wrapped trays containing “93% Lean 7% Fat All Natural Lean Ground Beef” with lot code 117
• 1.33-lbs. of plastic-wrapped trays containing four “Prime Rib Beef Steak Burger Patties” with lot code 118
• 2.25-lbs. of plastic-wrapped trays containing “85% Lean 15% Fat All Natural Angus Premium Ground Beef” with lot code 117
• 2.25-lbs. of plastic-wrapped trays containing “80% Lean 20% Fat All Natural Ground Beef Chuck” with lot code 118

Gibson Farms Organic Walnuts Recall

Gibson Farms (30/4/2024) recalled Organic Light Halves and Pieces shelled walnuts because Gibson Farms received information that they may have the potential to be contaminated with E.Coli. The Organic Light Halves and Pieces shelled walnuts were sold to distributors located in CA and WA. They were sold in bulk boxes in Net Wt. 25 lbs quantities and can be identified by lot 3325-043 & 3341-501 with expiration dates 5/21/25 & 6/7/25. Make sure you don’t consume the product and return the product to place of purchase for a refund.

Stockmeyer Prosciutto Product Recall

ConSup North America Inc. is recalling over 85,000 pounds of ready-to-eat sliced Stockmeyer prosciutto ham is being recalled because it wasn’t inspected properly before it was exported to the U.S. from Germany. The products were sold at stores in California, Connecticut, Florida, Illinois, Pennsylvania, Texas, Virginia and Washington state. The products that are affected Stockmeyer PROSCIUTTO Product of GERMANY (5.29-ounce package).

Don’t consume these products and make sure you return the product to place of purchase for a refund.

Infinite Herbs Organic Basil Recall

Infinite Herbs i has recalled packaged herbs linked to a multistate salmonella outbreak, across Florida, Georgia, Minnesota, Missouri, New Jersey, Rhode Island and Wisconsin. The product, Infinite Herbs organic basil, was sold in 2.5-ounce clamshell containers from February 1st to April 6th in 29 states, as well as in Washington, D.C. There have been many reports in seven states of people being infected with salmonella.

 Do not consume the product! Return the product to Trader Joe’s for a full refund. 

Yoto Mini Speaker for Kids Recall

Yoto (11/4/2024) is recalling over 250,00 of their Yoto Mini portable screen-free speakers due to the potential fire risk. The Yoto Mini Speaker is being voluntarily recalled because its lithium-ion battery could overheat and catch fire, posing burn and fire hazards to consumers, according to the Consumer Product Safety Commission. Impacted units were sold online at us.yotoplay.com, Amazon.com, Target.com and maisonette.com, and in toy and gift stores nationwide from November 2021 through April 2024.

Anyone with the recalled product is advised to immediately stop using it, take it away from children and contact Yoto to get a free replacement smart charging cable.

Delta Bicycle Stem Raisers Recall

Delta Cycle of Foxborough, Mass. (11/4/2024), is recalling about 500,000 Delta Cycle and Dimension Stem Raisers sold in the U.S. and Canada. The stem raiser can shift during use, causing the handlebar to shift unexpectedly, posing a fall hazard. This recall involves Delta Cycle and Dimension Stem Raisers were sold in black and silver, and measure between five inches and seven inches high. They were sold at REI and local bicycle stores nationwide and online at Designbydelta.com and Amazon.com from January 1998, through January 2024.

Consumers should immediately stop using the recalled stem raisers, and contact Delta Cycle to schedule a free repair at an independent bicycle dealer.

Jugader Zipline Kits Recall

Jugader (11/4/2024) is recalling about 6,600 of their Zipline kits, because stainless-steel cable can break, posing a fall hazard. This recall involves Jugader Zipline Kits containing a cable wire that is 160-foot long and 4-mm thick, a blue trolley, and a hanging plastic seat.

Consumers should immediately stop using the recalled zipline kits and contact Jugader for a free repair kit. Consumers must submit a photo of the cable and the trolley or their online purchase order number to receive a free repair kit, including a new cable.

Hy-Vee Cream Cheese Recall

Hy-Vee recalls its Plain Cream Cheese Spread, Whipped Cream Cheese Spread, and bulk-packaged Cookies & Cream Mix because they could be contaminated with Salmonella. The manufacturers of these products told Hy-Vee of the potential issue and Hy-Vee voluntarily recalled them. The affected products have been removed from stores, however, if you do have any of the below cream cheeses, return them to the store for a full refund. If you don’t return them, throw them deep into the garbage so pets can’t get to them.

No other varieties of Hy-Vee Cream Cheese or bulk-packaged items are affected by this voluntary recall, and no illnesses have been reported to date in connection with this problem.

Aldi Cream Cheese Recall

Aldi and Schreiber Foods, Inc. are recalling several cream cheese spreads due to the risk of salmonella. According to their announcement, they were informed by one of their suppliers that an ingredient used in several cream cheese spread formulas has the potential to contain salmonella. The cream cheese spreads include Happy Farms Whipped Cream Cheese Spread and Strawberry Cream Cheese Spread in 8-ounce cups sold at Aldi stores in Florida, North Carolina, South Carolina, California, Texas, Missouri, Kentucky, Alabama, Arizona, Arkansas, Delaware, the District of Columbia, Georgia, Illinois, Indiana, Iowa, Maryland, Michigan, Minnesota, New Jersey, New York, North Dakota, Ohio, Pennsylvania, South Dakota, Tennessee, Virginia, West Virginia, and Wisconsin.

If you have products affected by this recall, you are advised to discard them immediately or return them to your local store for a full refund.

Schnucks Cheese Spreads

Schnuck Markets recalled three private-label cheese spreads due to possible salmonella contamination. Customers are urged to check to see if they have purchased any of the recalled products. These should not be consumed and may be returned to the nearest Schnucks store for a full refund or exchange. Anyone who has eaten any of the recalled products and developed symptoms of Salmonella infection should seek medical attention.

Palmer Candy Company White Confectionary Products Recall

Palmer Candy Company, an Iowa-based company, has issued a voluntary recall of its “White Coated Confectionery Items” due to possible Salmonella contamination. According to the company, the recalled products were distributed nationwide in Walmart, HyVee, Target, and Dollar General, and to distributors in Alabama, California, Florida, Illinois, Iowa, Kansas, Missouri, Nebraska, North Dakota, Oregon, Pennsylvania, South Carolina, South Dakota, Texas, Virginia, Wisconsin, and Wyoming.

Consumers should check to see if they have the recalled products. The products should not be eaten and should be discarded or returned to the point of purchase for a refund.

Planters Nuts

Hormel Foods is recalling two types of Planters nuts due to the potential for contamination with the germ listeria. The recall affects certain Planters honey roasted peanuts and Planters mixed nuts shipped to Publix supermarket warehouses in Florida, Georgia, Alabama, and North Carolina, and to Dollar Tree warehouses in South Carolina and Georgia.

While there have been no reports of illnesses, the products are being recalled because they could be tainted with listeria, which can cause serious, sometimes fatal, infections in certain individuals. Customers should discard the nuts or return them to the store where they purchased them for an exchange.

Great Value Apple Juice Recall

Refresco Beverages US Inc. voluntarily recalls 9535 packs of Great Value Apple Juice shipped across Walmart stores due to high levels of inorganic arsenic. The affected packs contain six plastic bottles of 8-ounce apple juice with a best before date of December 28, 2024.

If you purchased this product, you can try to contact your local Walmart to check if they are willing to give a refund or exchange the affected item. Apple Cinnamon Puree & Applesauce Pouches Recall

Certain apple cinnamon puree and applesauce products have been found to contain elevated levels of lead, which can potentially lead to acute toxicity. Several cases of illness in children have been reported after consuming specific brands of applesauce pouches. In order to ensure public safety, the FDA has initiated a recall of these products. Investigators suspect that the source of contamination is the cinnamon used in the products. As of November 16, 2023, there have been 34 reported cases of illness related to this issue.

Here are the following products affected by the recall:

• WanaBana Apple Cinnamon Fruit Puree Pouches (all lot codes and expiration dates)
  These were sold nationwide through various retailers including Amazon, Dollar Tree, and other online outlets.
• Schnucks Cinnamon-Flavored Applesauce Pouches and Variety Pack
  These were sold at Schnucks and Eatwell Markets grocery stores.
• Weis Cinnamon Applesauce Pouches (specific lots of UPC 041497216123)
  These were sold at Weis grocery stores.

Nissan Recall (Air Bags)

Nissan Recall (Air Bags) – (2/9/2023) A defective component of the airbag system, specifically the emblem on the driver’s side that covers the airbag, has caused injuries to several people. The flawed part increases the risk of damage by causing the airbag emblem and retainer components to separate and become projectiles upon deployment.

If your vehicle is affected, you will take one of the recalled vehicles to a Nissan dealer for free repairs. Nissan is actively working on a fix and intends to inform impacted owners about the intentions for a fix by April 10.

To get your vehicle fixed for free, you should arrange a repair as soon as you have that information from Nissan. Anticipate a letter in the mail. Nissan will advise you of the recall and the repair procedure when they get in touch with you. Cosori Air Fryer Recall!

Cosori, a maker of air fryers, has announced the recall of about 2 million devices because of a possible fire and burn hazard. A wiring problem led to the recall of 22 Cosori air fryer models. The 5.8-quart and 3.7-quart recalled air fryers are offered in black, gray, white, blue, or red. Each unit has the trademark “Cosori” printed on the front, and the model number is printed on the device’s bottom label and in the user manual that comes with it. Trader Joe’s Frozen Fruit Recall!

Some of Trader Joe’s frozen fruit is being recalled due to a probable hepatitis infection. As unexpected as it may seem, that is what was declared on March 16, 2023. The affected items are 32-Ounce/2-Pound plastic bags of frozen Trader Joe’s Organic Tropical Fruit Mix (SKU# 51191), according to Trader Joe’s recall notice. The “Best By” dates for the goods are 04/25/24, 05/12/24, 05/23/24, 05/30/24, and 06/07/24. They were only offered for sale in the United States. BlendJet Portable Blenders Recall

BlendJet is recalling about 4.8 million earlier version of BlendJet 2 portable blenders because these can overheat or catch fire and the blender blades can break off hence posing fire and laceration hazards to users. To compensate affected users, BlendJet would be providing free replacement base unit and matching lid for their portable blenders. Meanwhile, Costco offers its customers to return their purchased blenders for a full refund as an alternative.

The BlendJet 2 blenders that are currently on sale are not affected by the recall. You can check if your blender is included in the recall here by entering the serial number!

IKEA LETTAN Mirrors Recall

IKEA is expanding the recall of their LETTAN mirrors due to the risk of lacerations. The plastic fittings that attach the mirror to the wall are prone to breaking which can lead to the mirror falling and posing a laceration hazard to consumers.

The list of affected LETTAN mirrors are as follows:

• LETTAN Mirror 23 5/8×37 3/4 ” (Article Number 804.353.05)
• LETTAN Mirror 31 1/2×37 3/4 ” (Article Number 804.353.10)
• LETTAN Mirror 39 3/8×37 3/4 ” (Article Number 604.352.69)
• LETTAN Mirror 47 1/4×37 3/4 ” (Article Number 304.353.03)

These mirrors bear date stamps before and including 2105 (YYWW) and supplier number 21944, also with date stamps up to and including 2325 (YYWW).

For those who have these affected products, it is advised to cease use immediately. To obtain replacement wall fittings (part number 139298/1) free of charge, individuals can contact IKEA here or by calling tel:8889664532.

Also note that the number of fittings needed will depend on the mirror size, so it is important to review the mirror and assembly instructions before placing an order. Eye Drops from CVS, Target & More

The FDA has issued a warning regarding specific over-the-counter eye drops from various major brands, including CVS Health, Leader, Rugby, Rite Aid, Target Up & Up, and Velocity Pharma. The reason for the recall is the potential presence of bacteria, which could lead to severe eye infections or vision impairment.

There are no reported cases of eye infections associated with these products, but the FDA advises caution. This is the second eye drop recall this year, following the recall of Ezricare brand drops in January 2023.

Miniverse Make It Mini Sets Recall

Attention parents! About 22 million “Miniverse Make It Mini” toy sets are being recalled in the US and Canada due to a liquid resin that can cause skin, eye, and respiratory irritation. MGA Entertainment has received reports of 26 incidents involving skin burns, respiratory irritation, and even asthma triggered by the resin.

The recalled sets include appliances, food, and lifestyle-themed toys from 38 different models. They were sold at various retailers like Target, Walmart, Family Dollar, Dollar General, ALDI, Hobby Lobby, and other stores nationwide. You may have also bought them online at Amazon.com, shop.mgae.com, Target.com, Walmart.com, and other sites. These toys were sold for between $7 and $13 for individual sphere sets and sets sold in a box for about $14 to $52, depending on the model. 

If you’ve purchased one of these recalled items, stop using these sets immediately and contact MGA to return any unopened products. If you’ve already opened a set, you’ll need to send a photo of the unit to get a replacement or refund.
