The Hillshire Brands Company recently announced that they are recalling approximately 58,000,000 pounds of State Fair corn dogs and Jimmy Dean sausage on a stick products due to a possible contamination of extraneous material, specifically pieces of wood embedded in the batter.
The affected products were packaged between March 17 and September 26, 2025 which were then sold online and shipped to retail and food service locations nationwide. Additionally, these were distributed to school districts (not part of food provided by the USDA for the National School Lunch Program) and Department of Defense facilities nationwide.
As of now, there have been multiple complaints and five injuries reported so if you have some in your freezer, you’re recommended to throw them away or return in store for a refund. If you have questions about this recall, you may contact Hillshire’s customer care at 888-747-7611 or the USDA’s Meat & Poultry Hotline at 888-674-6854.
