Check you rechargeable hand warmers asap, for your safety as well as a refund! If you’re the owner of any OCOOPA rechargeable hand warmers (check eligible model numbers below), now is the time to contact your local household hazardous waste facility for instructions on safely disposing them. You can find the model and three-digit batch numbers are printed on the underside of each hand warmer.
The U.S. Consumer Product Safety Commission has announced a recall of approximately 1.5 million OCOOPA rechargeable hand warmers because their lithium-ion batteries can overheat and catch fire.
Recently, OCOOPA has received 1,480 reports of said hand warmers overheating, with 15 fires and 350 burn injuries. There was also a reported death in February of 2026.

If any of these models correspond to your product, write “RECALLED” on the hand warmer with a permanent marker and submit a photo showing the marking, model number, and three-digit batch number through the OCOOPA recall page to receive a full refund. You can get your approved refund in the original form of payment or as a gift card for the OCOOPA website.
