Saputo Cheese USA, Inc. has recalled some Great Value cottage cheese products sold at Walmart. The company says that the liquid dairy used in these products may not have been fully pasteurized according to state rules.
These affected cheese products were distributed to Walmart stores and distribution centers from February 17th to 20th.
- Great Value Fat Free Small Curd Cottage Cheese – 0% Milkfat
- Great Value Lowfat Small Curd Cottage Cheese – 2% Milkfat
- Great Value Small Curd Cottage Cheese – 4% Milkfat minimum
The recall affects stores in several states, including Alaska, Alabama, Arkansas, Arizona, California, Colorado, Georgia, Iowa, Idaho, Illinois, Kansas, Kentucky, Louisiana, Missouri, Mississippi, Montana, New Mexico, Nevada, Oregon, Texas, Tennessee, Utah, Washington, and Wyoming.
Steps to Take if You Bought These Products

Do not eat any recalled items. You can either throw them away or return them to Walmart for a refund. For more information, you can call Saputo at 1-888-587-2423.
Some people are at higher risk for serious illness from these germs. This includes kids under 5, adults over 65, pregnant people, and anyone with a weak immune system. Eating unpasteurized dairy can cause foodborne illnesses. Symptoms may include diarrhea, cramps, vomiting, kidney failure, and even paralysis.
