As we have been seeing some Walmart Cash offers from Walmart matched by Ibotta, a new update in their Rewards program was anticipated. What used to be launched in beta version as Walmart Rewards exclusive to their Walmart+ Members, turns now to Walmart Cash by proving successful and is backed by Manufacturers and Ibotta!
From now on everyone earns Walmart Cash when they shop online or in-store, with some additional percent savings exclusive to Walmart+ Members when they book through Walmart+ Travel. Walmart MoneyCenters can cash-out earned amounts of Walmart Cash or it can be spent on future purchases. Here are some benefits and details about Walmart Cash:
- Walmart Cash is a cashback system that works similarly to the Ibotta cashback. You can find the offers on eligible products at the Walmart Website when you shop online or you can use the app if shopping in-stores. These are provided by the product’s manufacturers and works similarly to Ibotta.
- When in-stores, the Walmart barcode scanner shows you the products that are eligible for earning Walmart Cash that you can scan using your Walmart App scanner to earn.
- The offers are available for almost anything you can shop at Walmart, with the exclusion of the following:
- Walmart+ Membership Fee
- Gift Cards
- Lottery Tickets
- Walmart-provided Health Care Services
- Firearms and Ammunition
- Alcohol & Tobacco
- Financial Services
- Prescription drugs, Medical Supplies, Deductibles and Co-Pays
- Optical Products and Services
- Upon purchase, you will need to open the Walmart App at checkout and choose to ‘Use Walmart Cash’. Please mind that Walmart Cash cannot be earned if using printed or insert paper coupons.
- When shoppong online, products eligible for earning Walmart Cash have a light blue rectangle with the offer and additional info like limit and value. By logging in online or in the app, you can then select to get Walmart Cash which gets added to you balance upon checkout.
- When you shop online, upon ordering your products, at checkout in the Wallet Section you will need to choose ‘Apply Walmart Cash Balance’. If you return a product upon ordering, your Walmart Cash gets also deducted from your balance. Also, please mind that you cannot use Manufacturer Digital Coupons and earn Walmart Cash at the same time.
- Your Walmart Cash can also be exchanged for real money. The minimum amount that can be cashed-out is $25 Walmart Cash, you can redeem up to $100 daily, and this can be done at a Customer Service desk or a Walmart MoneyCenter. Simply choose ‘Ways to Earn’ in the app or online, select ‘Cashout in-store’ in the Walmart Cash tabs and choose ‘Show cash out barcode’. Show this to the person at the service desk along with your ID and cash-out.

When shopping at the store, how does Walmart know you bought it to credit you the cash?
While you’re at the store, the Walmart barcode scanner on your Walmart App helps you identify products that qualify for earning Walmart Cash. Simply use the app’s scanner to scan the items and start earning! Also, you can see the list of categories that are excluded from the offer in the post.
Iâm still confused. I donât see how scanning a barcode with the app earns you any money. How does Walmart know that you actually bought that item?!? Do you need to use a certain payment method? Submit a receipt? Light a signal fire? I need details.
Oh! So sorry for the confusion. Walmart app helps you identify which products are eligible for cash back. Once you purchase some of those products you have to scan their barcodes with Walmart app scanner. Once you do that the products will be recognized by the app, and that’s how you are earning money. Once you earn Walmart cash, upon purchase, you will need to open the Walmart App at checkout and choose to âUse Walmart Cashâ. And as someone stated, you can only use this or the Ibotta offers but not both, correct?
Hey there! Walmart Rewards is available to everyone, not just for Walmart+ Members. Also, I did a quick Google research about using Walmart Rewards and Ibotta together and found that when you add the same offer in both places, you’ll get your cash back in your Walmart account. If you want the cash back added to your Ibotta earnings, all you have to do is link your Walmart loyalty account with Ibotta, and make sure to only add that specific offer in Ibotta. Hope this helps!
