This seems like a very poorly planned event overall for Target. After reading some of the comments on otherās experiences here and comparing it to my own, theyāre very similar. I went into the store in my city right at 9 when it was supposed to start and got into the line for guest services because the ads for it didnāt say where to go so I asked. The first employee didnāt know anything about it and then another employee told me that itās an outside vendor and they werenāt there yet and might not be until between 9:30 and 10, which was strike one for disappointment. It was the only reason I went so for them to not start on time was a little unprofessional coming from such a company as Target. At about 9:25 the lady showed up bringing blankets and a hand basket full of monopoly board game, which was a little confusing. She then went and got the barrel of bears and handed one to me. The website advertises a cute minimalistic bear like the picture in this post but the one I was handed was completely different and seemed kinda low quality and not what I expected. Sure itās free and I probably shouldnāt have expected anything amazing but I guess I feel like I was kind of lied to about what it would look like. I was going to try to go to all of the events to collect each one but now knowing that 1. The outside vendor is allowed to show up whenever they want to and 2. The quality and design isnāt what was advertised, I decided itās definitely not worth wasting my time waiting around for them. If the vendor could be relied on to show up at the advertised time then I could see this being worth going in and quickly grabbing but a half an hour wait was too much for me and makes me weary of any future āfree eventsā Target might have in the future.

Iām sorry that happened to you. I donāt have a bear giveaway at a Target near me, however Iām a former (emphasis on āformerā employee). The situation you described about Targetās lack of awareness, poor planning, late arrival of the vendor, unprofessional planning, etc., sadly doesnāt surprise me. I ended up quitting Target because the inner workings of the company are a total MESS. Target has a shady way of manipulating public perception into believing itās an upper-tier company. It sure looks amazing in those glammy TV commercials. Target paints the illusionary picture through things like marketing, commercials, and in-store ambiance. But underneath the surface is a whole different story. Thereās a serious lack of communication from corporate to store level, and also between store-level management and hourly-wage employees. Iāve been to garage sales with more structure! I also found that store-level managers would quickly run through information and turn employees loose to basically fend for themselves. Aside from that, the corporate side of Target cares more about understaffing to save a buck, having minimal employees scheduled to work during business hours, and overburdening those who actually show up to work and do a good job. As an employee, I had to āwing itā most times when things would be happening yet I wasnāt properly informed beforehand, or provided with adequate information to support my role in the company. Within certain departments in the store, there were outside vendors that frequently made an appearance. I was never informed when they were coming in. A lot of times a vendor would come in with a display to set up and looked at me like I was nuts when I had no idea what was going on! Needless to say, Target appears so magical, but below the surface it stinks. Glad youāre no longer wasting time with their bootleg style giveaways.
Itās usually not Targets fault, but it makes Target look for sure. I hate that there is ppl that are truly interested in these sort of events and workers arenāt advised and arenāt given the knowledge about them. Iām sorry you went through all of that, but thatās how Target conducts their business and they are shiesty if you ask me.

If you ask a question the ones filling to go orders donāt have time to help you and you canāt find anyone on the floor to help you either
