U.S. Consumer Product Safety Commission (CPSC) and Target are issuing a recall on Pillowfort Weighted Blankets due to children being at risk of asphyxiation. A 4-year-old girl and a 6-year-old girl reportedly became entrapped in the cover of the weighted blanket and died at Camp Lejeune, North Carolina in April 2022. Target has also received four reports of children becoming entrapped in these weighted blankets, including the two fatalities. The weighted blankets were sold between December 2018 and September 2022.
The products were sold at Target stores nationwide and online. Customers who have bought them will receive a refund of $40 in the form of a credit for use at Target stores or online. You can view the recall number by clicking here.
