BUYERS BEWARE: Hello! Has anyone noticed amazon’s subscribe and saved changed the total cost amounts? I noticed this last month. Confused by their new system, I canceled a few orders because my total cost on my subscribe and save page was showing higher than the total cost on my receipt. Now this month, I’ve become aware through several purchases that this is not a glitch but their new way of doing things.

If I were able to upload pics here, I would give you a clear example of what I am explaining… For example: I purchased Mario Oreo cookies priced at $4.49 with a $1 off promotion and did subscribe and save so there is an additional savings added. My receipt provided at the end of the purchase shows what I actually should be paying which was a total of $3.15.

However, if I go over to my subscribe and save page it shows the purchase as $4.49 (in red below the product name) which is very confusing and why I was canceling my purchases when I first noticed it thinking amazon made an error in their calculation. Subscribe and save used to match the total of your receipt, so the number should have read $3.15 as well.

After making several purchases, I see this is their new way of doing things moving forward. Also, when you click on the product photo from your amazon subscribe page, it brings you to the product page and it used to say at the top of the page when you last purchased the item and gives you the option to view the receipt. It no longer does this for subscribe and save items. Now the only option is “manage” and when you click manage, it reroutes you back to the subscribe and save page which again does not show you the real total cost of what you are actually paying for the item. it does not give you the option to review your receipt.

Amazon is making it more difficult for you to see what you have paid and to compare pricing. So now, rather than seeing your receipt from the product page for a subscribe and save item, you now have to switch over to your “orders” page and search your item receipt there.

Their new process is very confusing for consumers. The last step that I have not done yet, is compare these 2 different prices I receive (the price from my receipt and the different total in subscribe and save) to see what I am actually being charged on my credit card statement. IS THIS EVEN LEGAL?

I googled this to see if anyone else has caught on. I didn’t find many articles but did read that subscribe and save is amazon’s bread and butter and they will increase pricing without alerting the customer. As if they were not a billion dollar company already, they are trying to make it difficult for the customers to keep track of their spending and what they are actually paying for items.

      Just wanted to share! Beware!
