Also, in my area Panera no longer leaves the cups near kiosks for access after ordering (they said it’s due to theft). Now, it requires ordering with an employee (waiting in line) or ordering on-line/App for rapid pickup & I look for my cup on the pick-up shelf or ask for help depending on the location.
Basically unlimited lemonade, tea, and fountain drinks was fun, but I think I’ve had my fill & this is probably ideal for someone who also drinks coffee.
I like the concept. I definitely used this more than just the coffee option. And, I’m sure it’s still a great price/option for some customers.
If you want to save at Panera, they regularly offer digital gift card purchases for 20% off via email. Sip club members are also regularly offered 20% off a Pick Two Meal.
I’m currently doing the free trial, have only used it once in a couple of weeks. Got one of the charged lemonades, which was actually pretty dang good. Thanks to my birthday, they gave me a free treat (chose lemon drop cookie, it was not bad just too sweet). Ordered for pickup online, and had to go inside to get it. They had an empty cup on a shelf for me, but not the cookie (due to theft they also say) so I had to wait a few minutes for someone to literally bring me a cookie from maybe 3 feet away from the shelf. The drink I had to get from a fountain machine.
All in all, I am with you on the overall opinion of the service. I wish it included some of the frozen coffees or the more “specialty” drinks… even if just one a day or a few a week or some limit. If they can literally allow you to get a new drink every 2 hours, then what harm would a few of those being specialty drinks cause? I don’t do soda, so I’m left with only the three charged drinks, basic coffees, and ummmm what else lol. Teas? I live in Las Vegas, so this service would kick ass during the hot months, price isn’t bad if you are using it a few times a week or so. I won’t be staying with it but will keep an eye on it to see how it progresses. Panera hasn’t been fairing too well in Vegas, quality of the restaurants have all gone downhill (some are downright mind boggling trashy now) and hardly ever anyone there when I have gone or drive by. I have eaten there since it was known by its previous name… back when I lived in St. Louis. Vegas has 50 restaurants on every block so if a place doesn’t take care of itself and it’s customers it’ll go out of business fassssst. Okay, I digressed big time, sorry lol. 👍
