Amazon is ending a program called Prime Invitee that allowed Prime members to share their free shipping benefit with someone outside their home. On October 1st, they will introduce Amazon Family – where Prime shipping can only be shared between a few accounts with the same primary residence.
With this new program, Prime members can share benefits with one other adult, up to four teens who were added before April 7th 2025, and up to four children. If you are a Prime Member and want to share benefits such as free shipping with others, you will have to make sure you:
- Have linked accounts through Amazon Family
- Have the same primary residential address
- Share payment methods with each other for household verification
- Have a Buy Now U.S. billing address for Prime Video sharing
- Share payment methods (family members can use their own payment methods to make purchases)
