Check your pantry now as Gold Star Distribution, Inc. has just recalled certain FDA-regulated products in three states – Minnesota, Indiana, and North Dakota. Affected products include pantry staples and favorites like Pringles, Nutella, Cheerios, and more. This is due to a potential Salmonella contamination, presence of rodent and avian contamination and insanitary conditions during the storage process.
The U.S. Food and Drug Administration (FDA) has determined that the facility was operating under insanitary conditions, including the presence of rodent excreta, rodent urine, and bird droppings in areas where medical devices, drugs, human food, pet food, and cosmetic products were held which create a significant risk that products held at the facility may have been contaminated with filth and harmful microorganisms.
There have been no illnesses reported yet but consumers and retailers who have purchased the affected products are recommended to destroy the products as soon as possible. Note that these items should not be shipped back to Gold Star under any circumstances but refund can be given upon request.
The products covered by this recall include all drugs; medical devices; cosmetics; dietary supplements; and human and animal (pet) food products. On the other hand, products shipped directly to retail/convenience stores by the distributor or manufacturer, such as all frozen and refrigerated items are excluded.
