If you purchased a ticket for a Lufthansa flight between January 1st 2020 and August 16th 2021 and your flight was cancelled due to COVID-19, you might be eligible for a refund as part of the payout of the class action settlement. Lufthansa hasn’t admitted to any wrongdoing but it has agreed to pay out up $3.5 million to customers to resolve claims of failing to refund customers for the cancelled flights.
There are two classes of customers who may benefit from the settlement:
- Those who already received a refund
- Those who haven’t received a refund yet
If you already received a refund:
Under the terms of the settlement, you may file a claim and choose between a $10 cash payment or a $45 voucher to be used for future flights at Lufthansa, Swiss International Airlines, Austrian Airlines or Brussels Airlines.
If you haven’t received a refund yet:
Under the terms of the settlement, you may file a claim for a full refund of your flight cost with 1% interest.
What’s the Deadline for filing a claim?
To receive your settlement payment, you must submit a claim form on or before May 9th 2023.
If you received a claim number in the mail, go to the claims website and enter it. If you did not receive a claim number, you can still fill out, print, and mail the PDF claim form before the deadline. To ensure that it arrives on time, postmark it before the deadline.
The final hearing is scheduled for July 10, 2023 and you can expect to receive your payment soon after. File your Claim here!
