The Coronavirus pandemic has unfortunately left many people out of work or looking for work to make ends meet. If you or someone you know is trying to find a job, we’ve made a list of some of the popular companies that are now hiring thousands of workers in response to the high demand. This is by no means a complete list of companies hiring, but feel free to leave a comment if you know of a company hiring that is not listed here. We are all in this together 🙂
Amazon
Amazon plans to hire an additional 100,000 warehouse and delivery workers to help handle the increase demand on online orders due to the Coronavirus. The company has also increased the minimum pay for these positions through April – up from $15/hr to $17/hr.
There are part-time and full-time jobs available nationwide and new hires can start within 7 days with no previous experience required.
Walmart
Walmart is planning to hire over 150,000 hourly associates in the U.S through the end of May. New employees will work in retail stores, clubs, distribution centers, and fulfillment centers. Roles will be temporary at first, but may convert to permanent roles positions over time.
To make the process faster, the company has streamlined the hiring process from 2 weeks to 24 hours. They’re also planning to pay a $300 bonus to full-time hourly employees and $150 to part-time employees.
Grocery Delivery

Restaurant Delivery
Restaurant delivery has become a huge trend now that people are staying home and companies are hiring to keep up with the increasing demand! DoorDash, Postmates, GrubHub, and Uber Eats are all hiring! Be sure to check out each one below to see what they offer!
GE Healthcare
GE Healthcare needs additional manufacturing employees to build medical ventilators, which have been in high demand and short supply during the coronavirus pandemic.
CVS & Walgreens
CVSÂ plans to hire 50,000 full-time, part-time, and temporary roles across the U.S., including store associates, home delivery drivers, distribution center employees, and member/customer service professionals. The company will use a technology-enabled hiring process that includes virtual job fairs, interviews, and job tryouts.Â
Don’t have a CVS nearby? Walgreens is also looking to fill 9,500 existing full-time, part-time, and temporary jobs across the U.S., including customer service associates, shift leads, and pharmacy technicians.
Target
From what we could find, Target seems to have open positions right now in stores as well as in distribution centers as stores cope with the increased demand due to the pandemic.
Home Depot & Lowe’s
Lowe’s is looking to add 30,000 new employees to fill immediate part-time, full-time, and temporary positions in-stores. In addition to in-store jobs, Lowe’s also has job opportunities in its distribution centers and other supply chain facilities.
Home Depot is also hiring 80,000 full-time and part-time seasonal associates with positions available in warehouse distribution and in-stores.
Papa John’s, Domino’s, & Pizza Hut
Pizza is in high demand during the Coronavirus quarantine, and to keep up, Papa John’s is hiring up to 20,000 new restaurant team members immediately. The company is committed to the communities it serves by delivering meals and offering carryout, meeting a valuable need during these challenging times.
Domino’s is also hiring thousands of delivery experts, pizza makers, customer service representatives, managers, and assistant managers at their open stores across the U.S. They’re also hiring Class A CDL drivers for their delivery pizza driver positions. View the current job openings here.
Pizza Hut has also announced they are hiring more than 30,000 permanent positions nationwide including cooks, shift leaders, restaurant managers, and virtual call center agents. They are also hiring more drivers to meet the increased delivery demand as more people order to eat at home.
7-Eleven
7-Eleven plans to hire up to 20,000 new store and restaurant employees nationwide to meet increased demand caused by the Coronavirus crisis.
Dollar General & Dollar Tree
Dollar General plans to nearly double its normal hiring rate by hiring up to 50,000 employees before the end of April as it continues to diligently work to support customers’ needs.
Dollar Tree also plans to hire 25,000 associates at Dollar Tree and Family Dollar stores and distribution centers across the U.S. The open positions include full-time and part-time managers at the Company’s more than 15,000 store locations, along with flexible part-time shifts for cashiers and stockers. Positions in the Company’s 24 distribution centers include order fillers, equipment operators, and warehouse associates.
Kroger & Affiliate Stores
Kroger is planning to hire 20,000 more employees to meet the demand for groceries and other supplies sparked by the Coronavirus crisis. Note that Kroger is known by different names in different states. Here are some other names you might recognize for your state: Ralphs, QFC, Smith’s, Fred Meyer, Baker’s, City Market, Dillons, Food 4 Less, Foods Co, Fry’s, Gerbes, Harris Teeter, King Scoopers, Jay C Food Store, Kroger, Owens Market, Pay-Less Super Markets.
The supermarket chain, which has shortened the time between an employee applying for a job and starting work to as little as three days, says that this latest hiring surge will take place over the next few weeks.
Albertsons, Safeway, & Affiliates
In response to the demand on grocery stores, Albertsons Companies are immediately hiring 30,000 new part-time associates. The company also understands that most people will return to their previous jobs when the crisis is over, and the company and partner employers are fully supportive of the other’s efforts to keep people working.
Safeway Affiliate stores go by various names in different states. Here are some affiliate stores this would be applicable for: Albertsons, Vons, Pavilions, Randals, Tom Thumb, Carrs, ACME, Jewel-Osco, Lucky, Shaw’s, Star Market, Super Saver, United Supermarkets, Market Street and Amigos.
ALDI
ALDI is currently hiring in all of its retail stores and warehouses, with thousands of positions available. You can find them listed on their website.
Sam’s Club
Sam’s Club is hiring new employees to work in customer service, maintenance, merchandise stocking, and the fresh food areas of their stores. Many of the positions offer full-time, permanent work!
Whole Foods
Whole Foods is currently hiring 5,000 team members across hundreds of stores in the US with a minimum starting pay of $15/hr and enhanced pay opportunities.
Trader Joes
Trader Joe’s is currently hiring temporary employees to meet the increased demand during the coronavirus crisis.
