Believe it or not, it is possible to get free music, ebooks and videos on both iTunes and Amazon.com.

The selection of freebies does change depending on demand, but if you take a look once a week, you can find new items.

If you do not have an account for either Amazon.com or iTunes or both, you may want to consider creating one for each.  Signing up is FREE and an account is needed to download the freebies.

1.    FREE on iTunes

• Music

Each week, iTunes offers 4 FREE singles.  Apple features these singles from different genres of music, so there’s a good chance you will like at least one of the 4 songs.

These free singles give you the opportunity to sample a new or lesser known artist or band and of course, if you like one of them enough, you may end up purchasing the whole album.

• Movie Featurettes

Itunes gives you the opportunity to watch short movie featurettes on upcoming movies for FREE.

The featurettes may include a snippet, interviews with cast members, podcasts or a behind the scenes.

Whether you are a movie buff, can’t decide if you want to go see an upcoming release or are just a fan of specific actors, directors or movie topics, these FREE featurettes give you the glimpse you may be searching for.

• Featured TV Shows

The videos in this category vary widely.   Personally, I’ve downloaded quite a few FREE shows for my Toddler.  From Sesame Street to Pound Puppies to Pocoyo, iTunes offers the opportunity to entertain even the youngest ones for FREE.

Keep in mind, the rotation of shows available for FREE download does change.  At this time, there are still a few full episodes available for download.  There are also short meet the cast clips, workout shows and get to know the cast snippets.

• Apps

There are always a range of FREE apps available for download on iTunes.  Some will remain FREE forever and others are only FREE for a specific time period.

If you are searching for a specific app, just check in every once in a while to see if a version of it is FREE.

• Books (eBooks)

Yes, you can download books on iTunes and some books can be downloaded for FREE.

The books available for FREE download range from the Classics to Romance to book-to-movies.  If you would like to expand your eBook Library, it doesn’t hurt to check out the FREE selection on iTunes.

2.    Amazon.com

I was very surprised to find that Amazon.com offers free music, eBooks and streaming videos simply because I view Amazon as an online retailer with competitive prices, so the freebies offered on the site are an added bonus.

• Music

On any given day, there are at least 3000 songs available for FREE download at Amazon’s MP3 store.  Amazon makes it easy for you to search the FREE music by letting you search by song genre.

• eBooks

Amazon offers 100 FREE eBooks available for download every day.   The range of book genres is large, but just by browsing the selection, it is very likely that at least one will peak your interest.

eBooks on Amazon are available in Kindle version.  If you don’t have a Kindle, just download the Kindle app (it’s FREE) for your device, link it to your Amazon account and you are good to start reading.
